NOTES
Lake Algonquin - Wells, NY Fishing Report on 8th Feb, 2025
Lake Algonquin - Hamilton, NY
After what seems like forever, the winds and snow died down today for the fellas from Long Island to come up and get out after some perch and pickerel! It was a slower pick on the tipups today and only had about a dozen flags and managed to land 2 small pickerel, and a 2 lb smallmouth bass! Lots of short runs and then spit the bait, and a handful of missed fish as well where they just came unglued. Jigging action however proved worthy today and the fellas managed to each jig up a few perch and learn the electronics. They kept a few of the larger ones for the grease and released all the smaller fish! Was a great time out on the water on a gorgeous day! They experienced stiff winds last year's trip so they saw what the difference weather can make! Several other groups out fishing picked at some perch and also were lacking in pickerel. Snow was fairly deep around 4-7inches and the ice was 16" thick! Snowmobiles and atvs were driving around and we did watch the schools of fish move away quickly when a few approached and stopped to chat. Tip! (Fish can and do hear when you're making a lot of noise and sometimes they move on)
